Cognitive & Educational Assessments

Megan has a strong interest in individual learning needs and learning disorders. She offers cognitive and educational assessments to provide insight into an individual's learning needs, abilities, behaviour, and development. These assessments can help to identify individual learning strengths and weaknesses, including specific learning disorders, intellectual disability, and high achievement (giftedness).
As well as informing educational interventions and supports, learners and their families may benefit from learning how to emotionally manage and understand individual learning needs. Many children and adolescents feel anxious or self-conscious about their learning profiles or uncertain of how to advocate for their needs in a learning environment. To empower young people to feel confident and enjoy their own learning, Megan works closely with individual learners, their families, and teachers to identify coping strategies, build psychological resilience and a growth mindset.

Assessments can be completed on their own or alongside psychological therapy.

The assessments used depend on the client's presentation and individual needs. Typically, assessment will involve a cognitive assessment (IQ test), and a range of academic achievement tests. Surveys for the child, parent and teachers may also be included. Thorough feedback, recommendations and a report are also provided.
